Notes To Self | Take A Breath


Take a breath. ⁠ ⁠ I've had several moments of being reactive when people have brought up several things that have caused me to remember an undesirable feeling. ⁠ ⁠ Once, my anger let loose a cannon of words that I could no longer take back. My friend told me that I should take a breath before responding before these things take control of my life. ⁠ ⁠ My therapist told me that I should take more time to release the feelings before I reacted to them, and taking a breath to remind your body to have some control over the negative emotion.⁠ ⁠ Hold space for yourself when the memories resurface. ⁠
